She was walking on the road, immersed in her own thoughts , wearing a burqa that covered her head, the veil that we Muslims call HIJAB. Revising the list of things she wanted to buy from the markaz. suddenly she felt that someone is following her, she started walking faster, she couldn’t catch her breath so she stopped for just a fleeting second when suddenly there stopped a car near her.
A man in his 50’s was offering her a lift, when she refused and tried to move away he followed her : again and again. In the middle of the road he was teasing her, the same thing happens after few days. She was afraid and confused. This one thought kept on troubling her, “is there something wrong with me?”
“Am i prone to such events due to some fault of my own?” An old lady seeing how worried the child is came to her aid, She told her the answer to her Question. “dont worry my dear! Nothing is wrong with you, it is only that burqa is a way for prostitutes to hide their identity hence the men judge you on the same basis that is all!!”
I am hijabian but my slogan is : “Say no to hijab“.
As we all live in Islamic democratic Pakistan, where 90% of population is of Muslims, the idea of Pakistan was a separate state for Indian Muslims where they can practice there religion. If we are not permitted to perform the basic needs and desires along with rituals of our religion then I fail to see the point of even fighting for our rights to create a country for us. Then we were better being the slaves who lived on bits and scrapes of the English and had no right or wits to demand as such for our own selves.
Pakistan was a dream world for Muslim womens of India so as to the end of their misery But the current situation of our country is a disappointment for us, in our very own capital city Islamabad of our beloved country where previously hijab was said to be a “leaf of jannah” is NOW a sign of prostitutes, you cannot walk on the streets while wearing hijab and burqa hence if worse comes down to worse we are leaning on the crippled, stigmatized ideology of westerns again and living our lives either in their shadow or the half baked idea of following our own beliefs and be called a prostitute.The answer we are all seeking and this time I would like for you to give this thought at least Continue reading “New girl in town”
